Our Verification Process

Liverpool Trusted Trades aims to help homeowners find reliable local tradespeople across Liverpool and Merseyside.

We encourage businesses listed on our platform to provide evidence of their credentials and business details. Verification badges are used to show when certain information has been confirmed.

Our goal is to provide transparency so homeowners can make more informed decisions when choosing a tradesperson.

Business Information

All businesses listed on Liverpool Trusted Trades must provide basic information about their company when applying to join the directory.

  • Business name
  • Main contact details
  • Service type or trade
  • Years trading
  • Description of services offered

This information helps homeowners understand who they are contacting and what services the business provides.

Insurance

Many trades carry public liability insurance to protect both themselves and their customers in the event of accidental damage or injury.

Businesses may provide proof of insurance when applying to join the platform. When provided, a badge may be displayed on their profile indicating that insurance evidence has been confirmed.

Qualifications and Trade Registrations

Some trades require specific qualifications or registrations.

Where relevant, businesses may provide details of professional registrations or qualifications, such as:

  • Gas Safe registration (gas engineers)
  • NICEIC or NAPIT certification (electricians)
  • Professional trade qualifications
  • Industry memberships

Where documentation has been provided, verification badges may be shown on the business profile.

DBS Checks

For certain types of work, businesses may provide evidence of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Where applicable, a DBS badge may appear on the profile when documentation has been confirmed.

This may be particularly relevant for trades working inside homes or around vulnerable individuals.

Customer Reviews

Many businesses include links to their Google reviews so homeowners can see feedback from previous customers.

Reviews are hosted by Google and provide an additional level of transparency about a business’s reputation and customer experience.

Fair Listings

Liverpool Trusted Trades does not allow businesses to pay for higher placement in listings.

Businesses rotate fairly within each trade category so every company has an equal opportunity to be seen by customers.

This ensures homeowners can choose tradespeople based on reputation and suitability rather than advertising spend.

Important Notice

While Liverpool Trusted Trades encourages businesses to provide accurate information and documentation, homeowners should always carry out their own checks before hiring a tradesperson.

Customers should discuss the job in detail, request quotes where appropriate, and confirm insurance or qualifications directly with the business if required.
